Business Responsibility
At the Callcredit Information Group we are committed to managing our business in an ethically, socially and ecologically responsible manner. This is because we understand that business doesn't run in a commercial vacuum, but that there are fundamental interdependencies between economics, society and the environment.
For this reason we recognise that we have a moral obligation to look after all our stakeholders - not just clients and investors, but also employees, partners, suppliers, local communities and the natural environment.
We've made treating all our stakeholders fairly and with respect a central part of what we do. And we believe that this is one of the reasons we're successful as a business - because we're good to work for and to do business with, because we minimise waste with efficient operations, and because we take care of our local community and environment. Recycling
We actively recycle - including our old computers, printer and toner cartridges, paper, vend-cups and drinks cans. Where we can we look for community benefits. For example our old computers get data cleansed and then go to schools in Africa where they are used for training. As for our printer and toner cartridges, they get reconditioned and resold, with the proceeds going to Oxfam.
Charity and Community Support
We encourage our staff to get involved in charity and community events. Every year in Leeds we organise a football tournament with our clients and suppliers to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer. And every year we hold a similarly innovative series of events, like Go Pink, an annual Netball Tournament, Movember (grow a moustache) and Coffee Mornings for different charities.
In 2009, Callcredit led a team of clients and staff on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge which helped to raise over £7000 for cancer support charity Macmillan.
Many of our staff also participate in charity fun runs - including for Help the Aged, the Heart Foundation, and the Jane Tomlinson Cancer Appeal.
Sustainable Transport
We understand that many of our people like to walk, run or cycle to work, and the benefits this has in reducing pollution and congestion, and improving health. So at Leeds we've given our staff facilities to keep their bikes safe and dry, along with onsite showers and changing rooms.
Looking after our Employees
Its cliché to say it but we really do recognise that our people are our biggest asset. So we look after them. And not just by doing the things we have to - like health and safety, equal opportunities and personal dignity. We go a lot further, taking an active interest in staff development and career support. We organise regular social events for staff and their families. We give them all sorts of perks like health insurance and the option to invest their pensions ethically. And we're there for them - with an open door policy from our CEO down.
Carbon Footprint
We understand that everyone has to play a part in tackling climate change. And we're doing our bit. We're reducing power consumption by replacing CRT screens with energy efficient LCDs. And we're reducing the electricity used by our IT equipment by consolidation and virtualisation.
Our Products and Services
We recognise that our business entails looking after a lot of sensitive financial information about people. We respect people's rights and concerns, and we're at the forefront of shaping legislation and services to protect these. For example our innovative ID Fraud alert product:
